Club Tennis Sessions

The Club currently holds Adult Club Sessions on a Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening. These sessions are open to all club members but total beginners may want to delay particpating until gaining a little more experience.  All are conducted via a relaxed, friendly and inclusive approach.  There is a WhatsApp group for members to arrange details.  However the intention is that you just come along and play.  These sessions are a great way to meet other club members while also improving your tennis.

Tennis Ladders

Through out the year we arrange Tennis Ladders for members who wish to participate.   This is a great way to test your skills with other club members and start to enjoy some friendly competition.

LADDER CATEGORIES: SINGLES (at present)

ABILITY LEVELS: All levels welcome

MOVING UP THE LADDER: When a higher numbered player loses the winner will replace that individual, and the loser moves down one spot. Everyone in between the players will also move down one spot. If you challenge and lose, no one moves

HOW TO JOIN:  We send out a communication when a ladder competition is about to commence asking for member interest. Participants will be ranked and ladder details will be issued to all those who have entered. Note: By joining the ladder your contact details (phone & email) will be available to other ladder members.

CHALLENGING: You may challenge a player ranked one or two spots above you. If you win your match you take the place of the person you defeated. Email or call the player being challenged and agree a date & time to play.

Note: Should a player decline to play they will forfeit the match

MATCH RULES:

Detailed match rules can vary and are posted in the booking system so best to check before starting to play.

Normally the format is best of three sets (first to win 2 sets) with a seven-point tiebreak played in each of the first 2 sets if tied at 6-6. If tied at 1 set all, the third set is normally a Championship Tiebreak, first to 10 points (with a lead of 2)

Balls are provided by participants (usually by the challenger).

Floodlight costs (if any) to be shared – cost is currently £1.00 per half hour.

Results should be posted promptly online (usually by the winner - participants must confirm who is doing this)
